We have extended the deadline for receiving names to Saturday October 31st at 6 p.m. You can still send your names to Charlie Ernst via e-mail. The address is; cfe1215@gmail.com These names will be read during the Mass. We ask that you limit the number of names to five per person.

Display Pictures for All Saints Day

This is a reminder to bring any pictures of your deceased loved ones to Mass this Sunday (November 1st). These will be displayed at the foot of the Altar during the Mass. You will need to take them with you when you leave.

Holiness and sanctity can seem so out of reach when we have as examples those whose lives are so different from the vast majority. Sanctity is not a prize given to those who complete a marathon, something most people cannot do. Instead, sanctity is something each of us is called to. Holiness is something each Christian can live. It is nothing more than living the paschal mystery, a daily dying to self so that we put others before us. Family members practice this daily! (Or at least they have many chances to practice this each day.) When parents sacrifice their own wants for the sake of their children, or when siblings put the needs of their brothers and sisters before their own, these are acts of sanctity. It is through such acts that we live the gospel passage today as “peacemakers.” Division and strife are not marks of sanctity; unity and peace are. Let us live the gospel message toady and, in so doing, live the paschal mystery into our own sanctity. - Living Liturgy

Friday Night BINGO!

Register for Expressions of Gratitude Event

The Expressions of Gratitude event on Thursday October 29th is being sponsored by the Faith Communities of Baltimore With Pride (FCBWP). We have a posting in our News Wire with details regarding this event. Included in this posting is a link to register on Zoom. The planners of this event have communicated what is the simplest and best way to register. They recommend that you enter the link (bit.ly/FCBWPgratitude) in your web browser. This will take you directly to the page for you to register,you should then receive an e-mail confirmation. See you on the 29th.

All Saints Day Remembrance

During the All Saints Day Liturgy on November 1st we have set aside time to have our traditional Reading of the names of our deceased loved ones. If you would like to have names of your deceased loved ones read during Mass please send a list of your names to Charlie Ernst. His e-mail is; cfe1215@gmail.com The deadline to receive names is October 30th (a limit of five names per person please). We will have a handout available this Sunday (October 25th) that you can use to submit your names. In additon to reading of names you may bring in pictures of your deceased loved ones that can be displayed at the foot of the altar during Mass. Unfortunately, we will not be able to display the pictures during the month of November as we have done in previous years.

Halloween Fellowship

It’s too spooky to spend Halloween without socializing with your friends from St. Charles of Brazil, so join us for a Halloween themed game of virtual BINGO, this Friday, October 30 at 7:00 pm.  Just let us know that you want to participate and we'll make sure you get your bingo cards via email.

And while we're all together, why not share a picture of your Halloween decorations, your pumpkin, or maybe even a picture of you (or a family member) in a past or present Halloween costume. You can send them via email to Maureen at maureenk1111@gmail.com or you can text them to her at 630-863-5942. If we get enough pictures we will run it in a slideshow on Friday night. Come and join us for some shared laughter, you might even win a prize or two.

 Please pray for the extremely devoted residential staff at Jackie’s place of employment, “People encouraging People”,  who have lost another of their residents this week and are struggling To cope with yet another loss.

Sunday Live Stream for October 25th 2020

Getting to the crux of the matter can be an important exercise. Pruning away extraneous detail to reveal the core issue is essential in many cases. For Christians, we recall that Jesus’ teachings were rooted in Mosaic Law and the prophets. Yet he emphasized or combined aspects of each that made them see, to come alive, or to be read and understood in a new way. It’s certainly true that loving God and loving one’s neighbor were commandments in Mosaic Law. But who had ever combined them like this before? Ultimately, it’s a good reminder of the core of the religious message. All of our actions ought to flow from this twofold love. Loving God and loving neighbor go together, and they cannot be reduced one to the other or one over the other. When we live by this guiding principle, we are living the paschal mystery. – Living Liturgy

Parish Life Ministry Team Reimagines Fellowship:

Calling all parishioners:  due to extreme limitations on our ability to offer indoor Sunday fellowship as the weather turns cold,  the Parish Life Ministry Team is introducing a fun alternative way of being together.   Beginning, Friday, October 30th, every two weeks you will be invited to tune in to a themed Zoom event from 7-8 pm where you can safely and conveniently visit with your fellow parishioners from the comfort of your home!  Stay tuned for details of our first gathering in the news wire!  And best of all, if you have ideas you'd like to share with us and/or would like an opportunity to host one of our gatherings, speak up; we'd love to hear from you.
